Ahh! The pause that refreshes... This is right up there with riding my crotch rocket above 6,000 rpm in a 30 degree bank.Out of 61 potential jurors, I was selected as one of twelve to serve. The airline gives me full flight pay; the county gives me 44 cents p/mile and $12 p/day, enough to cover gas and chow. The big thing, though, is that I get to sleep with the wife of my youth for longer than three nights in a row. Cuddling with the center of power...
Life is good.

You must have all the right qualities to be selected, Dave! Enjoy your change of scenery and responsibility while it lasts.
At least you got selected. I recently had to turn up for 8 days and didn't get selected but had to wait around until about midday before being released each day. When I finally got selected and sat for the first day, it was pretty obvious already that it was going to be a foregone conclusion. Lo and behold, we turned up for the second day and were told that the defendant had changed his plea to guilty!!
What sort of crotch rocket have you got? I have a Honda VFR 800
Funny - I've never been asked to do jury duty. Maybe it has to do with moving around all the time. It is refreshing to see someone rejoicing about it - most people just complain! Never liked that term, crotch rocket. I guess because it is often brandished by people with a lot of presumptions. I have a Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird that I'm looking to sell soon. Beautiful machine - capable of 180 but I've only done 155.

Good for you!
Hi Dave,
I love your blog. I have been reading it for few years, and thanks to you I have working on my private license.
Jury duty was one of the best experiences next to getting married and taking the oath of citizenship.
Enjoy it and keep up the blog. It is one of the best ones out there
Dave, I think that you'll be an excellent juror.
(Slightly off topic) I have been playing with the new X-Plane 9 flight sim (on my Mac Pro), and I can't wait to add a Fi-Fi to the collection of aircraft!
Thanks for everything Dave!
That is one of the most important tasks that you can be called on to perform for your country and your community.
The rules have recently changed in England, so that even senior managers, politicians, judges and lawyers have to serve - quite right too.
noella- as the head of my fan club, you would say that anyway.
deejay- I have a geezer rocket; a Yahmaha FZ-1. I put a fuel cut-off eliminator in the fuel injection to make the throttle response smoother. It is a lot more comfortable than the clip on grips, but, alas, not as fast as the R-1. Still, it runs well above 130 mph, or so I have been told.
Dave - absolutely!
Hi Dave - I'm 1) an avid reader of FL 390 and 2) in my other life, a trial lawyer (prosecutor) ...thanks for your service. If only all our prospective jurors would be so insightful level headed and happy to serve! Enjoy your time "in the box"!
